Director of Organizational Development

The Role

 

Reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer, this role is responsible for the design, execution and evaluation of system-wide organizational development programs and initiatives.  Provides a wide range of consultative services to executives and senior leadership in the areas of leadership development, succession planning, performance management, DEI, employee engagement and organizational change management.

 

Key Challenges in First Year

  • Supports organization in leadership and operational changes taking effect Jan. 1, 2022. 

  • Facilitates ongoing succession planning for leadership and assists with development planning for high potentials.

  • Leads management teams in the development, implementation and measurement of action plans to improve employee engagement.

  • Updates/revises the leadership competency model and aligns educational and performance management systems to support the model.

  • Working through DEI Specialist, supports DEI initiatives to be introduced in 2021, including but not limited to recruitment and onboarding of employee council members and employee resource groups.  Supports delivery of employee DEI education and activities system-wide.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  1. Works with executives and management to facilitate organizational effectiveness initiatives including mentoring programs, performance management, succession planning, change management and employee engagement.  Manages work of outside consultants as needed.

  2. Designs management and leadership programs that align with the organization’s mission, values and desired leadership competencies; develops or acquires content i.e, courses, workshops, webinars and e-learning tools to support learning goals and optimize delivery. Identifies and manages third parties in the design and delivery of content.

  3. Works with HR management team to continually improve orientation and onboarding experience for new hires.

  4. Designs and/or delivers ILT management education as needed.  Coaches internal facilitators/presenters and ensures quality instruction.

  5. Works with HR management team to deliver HR-sponsored compliance and policy training.

  6. Partners with DEI executive sponsors to address business needs. Supports DEI goals and objectives through programming in the areas of employee engagement, talent management, learning and development, community support and communication. 

  7. Oversees employee opinion survey administration including preparation, communication, analyses and presentation of results.  Supports management in action planning for outcomes. 

  8. Working with senior leadership and internal teams, is responsible for programming and organizing semi-annual leadership development conferences (LDI’s). 

  9. Provides individualized coaching to managers and senior staff as needed.  Recommends and prepares individualized development plans.   

 

The Ideal Candidate

  • Master’s degree in Organizational Development, Human Resources, Industrial Psychology or related field. 

  • Minimum 5-7 years in an organizational development role with at least 3 years as a manager. Health care or health plan experience a plus.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Organizational Development principles including; adult learning, curriculum and course design, group dynamics, quality improvement methodologies, succession planning, coaching and employee engagement. 

  • Experience using learning management systems and e-learning design/authoring tools.  Experience with SumTotal LMS preferred.

  • Certified Coach with prior executive coaching experience preferred.

                                              Director of Human Resources

A non-for-profit long-term care system in Westchester County is seeking a Director of Human Resources.

The successful candidate will develop and implement Human Resources strategy, systems, processes and programs that will provide a balanced and progressive approach across units/programs.  Provide leadership and coordination of Human Resource functions. Major functional areas include organizational planning, organizational development, recruitment, orientation/on-boarding and training, performance management, labor/employee relations, compensation, benefits, safety and health.  The incumbent will report to the CAO/CFO.  Assists and advises senior management on Human Resources issues.

An ideal candidate will also bring the following professional experience and personal qualities to this important role:

 

  • Master’s Degree in Human Resources Management or Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred. 

  • 10+ years of previous experience in Human Resources Management in a nursing home or hospital setting required.

  • A proven track record of building and managing a successful customer-service organization.

  • Organizational Development and employee engagement experience a must. Experience managing a broad range of human resource issues.

  • Excellent critical thinking and analytical ability.

  • Creative thinker with good research skills

  • Experience in a unionized environment.

    Assistant Vice President, Total Rewards for large New York City area health system

The Assistant Vice President of Total Rewards works with senior management to ensure that compensation and benefits programs and HR Systems support the organization’s business objectives and meet all legal requirements.  The position reports directly to the VP, HR, Total Rewards and participates in the overall design, implementation, evaluation and ongoing administration of the organization’s compensation, benefits, central leave of absence, retirement programs and HR Systems.

The successful incumbent will support the VP, HR, Total Rewards in driving strategies that result in a positive impact in the quality, pricing and services provided on behalf of the health system and its employees. As an integral member of the HR Leadership team, the AVP of Total Rewards will help lead in the development of HR’s predictive analytic capabilities and integrated business processes which will help drive actionable outcomes and frontline decision making.  

 

Requirements- include:

  • Minimum of 7-10+ years’ experience in a Total Rewards or generalist capacity, with an emphasis on at least one or more areas of Total Rewards.  Compensation and Benefits experience in a complex organization is strongly preferred.

 

  • Master’s degree in a related area (i.e., Business) is preferred

 

  • 10+ years of benefits and compensation related experience is also preferred

 

  • Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated management & leadership experience is required

 

  • Must possess excellent written and oral communications skills and outstanding attention to detail
